Because of his personality, people are normally not appreciative of it.

FATHER Marc Tyler Slang; 37; Eli's father and he do not have any special male bonds, talk about business, or anything at all. He usually is too busy to pay attention to his son, so he lets Eli roam about his own business. His interactions with Death Eaters has no bearing on Eli's personality or future ideas and he listens to his father when he speaks, but doesn't really follow well with the advice he gives.
MOTHER Madeline Anna Connell-Slang; 37; Eli and his mother have a love and hate relationship. He loves her because she pays attention to him. Most of the time, she doesn't bother him unless he needs to get himself out of a situation. She knows her son is very socially inactive and most of the time, she gets him out of these situations. But many other times, Eli's mother will put him in social situations. When he was little and his father would invite his colleagues over, she would send their children to associate with Eli. For this alone, he couldn't stand her, but that was only sometimes.
ATTRACTED TO Adalia Travers; 17; Unknowingly, Eli had met Adalia when he was a child. She was one of the many Death Eaters children when his parents had over their colleagues. He remembered her as a rather influential individual.

HIM Eli Julian Slang; 17; After Eli was born, Madeline told Marc that he would be her first, last, and only child. She knew immediately that he was going to be the one that would make her proud. He grew up as an independent child, not needing anyone else to help him. However, under the atmosphere of Dark Arts and violence, Eli caught on that being quiet would keep him safe. He spent most of his time with his mother as a young child until his father began to hold meetings at their Manor. It forced Madeline to leave Eli with the children of the men and women who were meeting about Death Eater business. So, at such a young age, Eli was antisocial. And he absolutely refused to go to anyone else's home because of it. This was when he met many of the Slytherin children that he would go to school in the future. Even though most of them spent time trying to talk to him, he would isolate himself and keep himself in one corner of his room while they all talked and babbled amongst each other. Eli grew up to be a very coldhearted boy. His parents' words typically had no bearing on what he did and he only represented himself.
